New mayor, commissioners take oaths of office in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   The City of Marquette has a new mayor. 

Jenna Smith was selected by the City Commission and sworn in Tuesday evening. She replaces Fred Stonehouse in the mayor’s seat and is the first woman to be in the position since 1980. 

Jenn Hill is the new mayor pro-tem.

Two new commissioners were also sworn in Tuesday. Andrew Lorinser and Evan Bonsall won seats in the November election. They replace Sarah Reynolds and Dave Campana, whose terms expired.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
