BARAGA, MI-- A L’Anse woman has been sentenced in the death of her 2-year-old nephew.
On December 23, 2017 Genevieve Meyers, 37, brought an unresponsive Walker Meyers to Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She was his legal guardian.
The toddler was flown to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Medical experts determined the toddler’s death was due to abuse.
Meyers pleaded no contest to 2nd degree murder in August. She was sentenced in Baraga County Circuit Court to 22 years, 6 months to 40 years in prison.
