Free afternoon parking in Marquette over the holidays

MARQUETTE, MI--   The City of Marquette is giving the gift of free parking this holiday season.

Beginning Thursday and ending December 27, Monday-through-Friday enforcement of metered parking and two-hour parking areas will be suspended after 3 p.m. downtown. Drivers will be able to park in any of the public spaces except for handicapped and 24-hour reserved spaces or loading zones.

Free afternoon parking will include North Third Street, the upper and lower levels of the Bluff Street parking ramp, and the Commons, Main Street, Lakeshore Boulevard, Rock Street, East Baraga Avenue and Spring Street lots.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
